Holographic images are very attractive to look at because of their unique feature of reflecting different color lights. Now-a-days the use of holographic images has increased a lot. As they are used in different items like greeting cards, shoes, shirts, etc., they are also been used in cakes today. There are many simple ways to create a hologram cake, you can purchase an already made holographic design and fix it to the top of the cake with icing. But, it is a lot more attractive if the cake is designed and decorated with luster dust.
  1. The very first step is to bake a cake of the flavor and the shape and size that you desire. When the cake is fully baked remove it from the baking pan and rest it on the cooling stand. Let the cake cool completely and make sure that its surface is smooth and without any bumps. If it isn’t, then make it smooth with the help of a knife. The surface has to be flat so that it can reflect the light properly without creating any gloom.
  2. To start to design a holographic image, make a sketch of the image that you desire on a piece of paper. Fill it in with the color of your choice. You can make use of different colors or even shades of each color to give it a more attractive look.
  3. The next step is to frost the cake with a white icing. It could be either cream cheese, or vanilla or anything else. Also make sure that the icing is flat as the surface.
  4. Take a piping bag and fill it with some gel icing. Copy the image that you made on the sheet, on the cake with the gel icing. Make it carefully so that it does not leak.
  5. Take different colors of luster dust and place it on different dishes. Slightly wet your fingers and sprinkle each color of the luster dust on the cake as per your image. Make sure to sprinkle only half-teaspoon at a time. You can also mix different shades of the same color to give your cake a holographic effect.

A reflection hologram is a type of hologram that is used to protect products from counterfeiting. These types of holograms have an image that is stored in a wide emulsion and it can be viewed only in white light. Reflection holograms are used in a huge variety of products like bags, CDs, sunglasses, etc.

Working:
Reflection hologram is a special type of hologram that is incorporated with a three dimensional image which can be seen only in white light or one particular angel. These holograms are made to be multicolored. The visibility of the image depends upon the angel of the light i.e. the object beam and the reference beam.

The image that is imprinted in a reflection hologram is stored inside an emulsion; this is the reason that it is not viewable clearly. The image is rebuilt only at the point when there is a contact between the two beams of light, i.e. the object beam and the reference beam, which are traveling in conflicting directions. If the light that falls on the image is not at the precise angel, then the hologram selects the beam of light itself, that is declining on the necessary angle for it to be visible in multi-color and three dimensions form, and then rebuilt the image. The additional light passes through the hologram with reflecting.

How to Make an Hologram Manually

Holograms labels are usually either computerized or made from prismatic lights, but now-a-days these are even hand drawn. Hand drawing a hologram is simpler and consumes less time too. It needs a few commonly found materials like a piece of plastic, a compass, etc. with the shift in position you will see a change in the hologram image as well. The making of a hand drawn hologram is extremely cheap.
  1. First of all take a large and a clear piece of plastic and place it over the image. Make sure that you cover the image properly. Place one end of the compass on the image and other end on the hologram area. You will have to copy the whole image from the initiation of the process till the conclusion.
  2. Now place a small piece of plastic over the image and the larger piece of plastic. This will safeguard the larger plastic from getting weird start marks on it. One side of the compass will be resting on this plastic and it won’t be a part of the final hologram.
