  1. Take a spoilt or unused CD or DVD and place it on a flat surface with the label side down.
  2. Now rub the disk with a rough steel wool so that you do not see your reflection in it. Remember to rub it in a circular pattern.
  3. Select a simple image and trace its outline on another paper with a pencil. Now place the image on the disk part that was rubbed. Place the image upside down. Now scribble the backside of the image and transfer the image on the disk.
  4. Slowly trace the image outline on the disk with a needle or a pin. Rub the extra lines with the help of a cloth.
  5. Fill the outside of the image by making vertically perpendicular lines to the image. Doing this can get you a 3D or holographic effect.
  6. Now finish the hologram by using steel wool and rubbing the image in spherical pattern.
  7. Neatly cut your hologram to the anticipated image size with a knife.
